The digital dialler is the most basic and most common back to base monitoring alarm system. The security alarm system utilizes the customers existing telephone line to communicate any alarms to the central monitoring control room. Every time the alarm system communicates with the control room a telephone call is made from the clients premises and in most domestic systems a regular weekly test call is automatically generated by the panel to ensure the alarm panel dialler is still operational. If a fault occurs on the telephone line it may be several days before this is detected unless a test call is made every day.
With the rollout of the NBN across Australia, digital diallers will be effected as in its standard reporting format, it is not compatible with the NBN. Just check that the Retail Service Provider (RSP) for the premises will provide service on the UNI-V voice port and that the port has battery backup. In most case’s this port when activated will enable your existing system to operate over this pathway on the NBN. Other options such as adding an ISS supplied IP/GPRS modem to your existing system will enable the monitoring to continue via an independent pathway to that of the NBN.
