Your 24/7 Security System is Like a Heartbeat: It Needs Regular CheckUps to Keep You Safe

Much like your health relies on a strong, steady heartbeat, the security of your home or business depends on the optimal functioning of your security system. Failing to conduct regular maintenance can leave your premises vulnerable, compromising both property and personal safety, as well as a peace of mind.

Why Regular Maintenance Matters?

You’ve invested in your security system as an important line of defense against potential threats. You should choose to have an annual preventive maintenance carried out for the following reasons:

  • Reliability: Regular checks help to ensure every component is operating as it should.
  • Stay Compliant: Home and business may be eligible for insurance discounts by having a monitored security system in place that requires the system to be regularly maintained. Additionally, businesses may be required to conduct regular maintenance to remain compliant with safety regulations.
  • Protect Your Investment: Regular maintenance of your security system helps you to ensure it remains in optimal condition, helping to prevent costly repairs or replacements in the future.
  • Peace of Mind: Have increased confidence that your security system will work when you need it most, whether it’s detecting a fire, alerting you to an intruder, or signaling for assistance.

What We Do During Preventive Maintenance?

Our comprehensive preventive maintenance program covers every aspect of your security system to keep it performing at its best:

  1. Functioning Testing
    • The Functionality of movement and smoke detectors is tested to ensure proper operation, with confirmation that alarms are successfully transmitted to the Monitoring Control Centre(if the system is monitored).
  2. System Diagnostics
    • Zone circuits are thoroughly tested to check their stability, and audible devices are checked to ensure proper functionality.
  3. Site Inspection
    • A visual inspection helps to ensure that detection devices are not obstructed by new furniture, displays, or structural modifications, which could impact their effectiveness.
  4. Recommendations
    • Our technicians may recommend upgrades, such as replacing outdated smoike detectors, to enhance system performance. Additionally, we encourage you to review and update your monitoring contact information to ensure the information is current.
  5. Final Checks
    • Upon completion of the maintenance, the system keypad is thoroughly checked to ensure there are no fault issues, all settings are correct, and the system is fully operational and ready for use.

What Can Happen If Your System Is Not Regularly Maintained?

  • Increase Occurrences of missed detections resulting from dirty or malfunctioning devices.
  • An elevated risk of false activations, which can undermine confidence in the reliability of the system.
  • The potential for expensive repairs that could have been avoided with regular maintenance.
  • Potential weaknesses that could be exploited by criminals.
